James Johnman Jr., 36, of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania and a registered Megan’s Law offender, was charged today by Indictment with attempted enticement of a minor, distribution of child pornography, and possession of child pornography, announced Acting United States Attorney Louis D. Lappen.
If convicted the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of life imprisonment and a mandatory of at least 15 years of imprisonment, a lifetime of supervised release, a $750,000 dollar fine, mandatory restitution, a $300 special assessment, and a $15,000 special victims assessment.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. The case was investigated by Federal Bureau of Investigations and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Priya De Souza.
