MADISON, WIS. -- John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Arwin C. Lacy, 26, Madison, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson to 37 months in prison for distributing cocaine base, otherwise known as “crack cocaine.”  Lacy pleaded guilty to this charge on August 8, 2016.

In April 2015, law enforcement initiated an investigation into the drug trafficking activities of Lacy in Dane County, Wis.  During that time, law enforcement purchased 3.5 grams of cocaine base from the defendant during a controlled buy.  The investigation later resumed and resulted in the defendant’s arrest on April 1, 2016.  At the time of his arrest, law enforcement recovered 287.3 grams of marijuana, 8.31 grams of crack cocaine, and a stolen firearm from the vehicle he was in.

The charge against Lacy was the result of an investigation conducted by the Madison Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter M. Jarosz.
