New Orleans Man Pleads Guilty to Brandishing a Firearm during a Bank Robbery

U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite announced that LONDON CARTER, age 24, of New Orleans, pled guilty today to brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, specifically a bank robbery.

According to court documents, CARTER guarded the door of a Capital One Bank in Metairie during a robbery on August 26, 2011, and pointed a semi-automatic pistol at various customers.

CARTER faces a mandatory minimum of 7 years imprisonment and a maximum term of life imprisonment, along with a $250,000 fine and up to 5 years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.  U.S. District Judge Sarah S. Vance set sentencing for December 7, 2016. 

U.S. Attorney Polite praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in investigating this matter.  Assistant United States Attorneys Elizabeth Privitera, Maria Carboni and Marquest Meeks were in charge of the prosecution.
